MOVE-Organization of taxi mobility in Yaounde

Project type

Urban mobility

Date

July 2024

Location

Yaounde-Cameroon

As an urban planner for the MoVe Yaoundé project—a collaborative initiative funded by the European Union, the French government, and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) aimed at transforming Yaoundé into a safer, healthier, and more equitable city through sustainable urban mobility—I was responsible for organizing the taxi transport sector. My duties included identifying and analyzing key stakeholders, both public and private, and mapping their roles and influences within the project. I developed and implemented a stakeholder engagement plan to ensure effective collaboration and communication. Additionally, I coordinated and facilitated participatory workshops to integrate stakeholder input into project strategies. I also designed a registration platform to streamline and modernize taxi services, created a comprehensive communication plan to raise awareness and disseminate project information, and led MoVe training sessions and facilitated the inaugural discussion forum to promote knowledge sharing and capacity building among participants. Through these efforts, I aimed to modernize and professionalize Yaoundé's collective and informal taxi services, contributing to the city's broader goal of sustainable and efficient urban transportation.
